Is the diagnostic fee waived if I replace the system?
Yes. The standard $89 diagnostic fee is waived when the visit leads to a system replacement. Estimates on a new system are free either way. Comfort Shield members also have the diagnostic waived when a repair is completed.

One of my mini-split heads stopped cooling but the others still work. What does that mean?
Almost always a fault in that zone rather than the whole system — a loaded filter or coil on that head, a blocked condensate drain, a stuck indoor fan, or a failed sensor. Because each head is independently controlled, the rest of the system keeps running normally, and that in itself narrows the diagnosis considerably.
Are ductless systems more expensive to repair than central AC?
Usually not. Fan motors, sensors and control boards are comparable in cost, and because the system is zoned, a fault often takes out one head instead of the whole house. The exception is the inverter board, which costs more than a conventional contactor or capacitor — though it also fails far less often.
