My PSL pool was built with the house but has no heater — is adding one complicated?
Usually not. A pool heat pump plumbs into the existing return line after the filter, so the rest of the plumbing stays as it is. The unit needs a level pad with open air around it and an adequate electrical supply, so we confirm what the panel can carry and coordinate the circuit it needs. Is winter pool water in Port St. Lucie really too cold for swimming?
It can be, during the coldest stretches. Without a heater, the water follows the weather: a sunny, calm week keeps it pleasant, while a run of cold fronts and breezy nights pulls it down fast. A heat pump lets you choose a temperature and hold it; it gains heat more slowly on the coldest nights, and a cover helps it keep up.
Will a heat pump also cool the pool during a hot PSL summer?
